Le Rondin draft report arrives, but not released
Monday 1st September 2008, 2:00PM BST.
MORE repair work is being carried out at Le Rondin School. The building was opened in 2005.
It comes as the Public Accounts Committee confirms it has finally received a draft report reviewing how the project was carried out.
‘There are some corrective works being carried out at Le Rondin School and Centre over the summer break as part of the snagging programme that follows the construction of such buildings,’ said an Education Department spokesman.
‘The costs for these rectification works will be funded from the retention monies held under the contract.’ It has previously confirmed that £200,000 was put aside for the snagging programme.
‘The situation at Le Rondin has been more complicated than on similar capital projects because the main contractor, Dew Construction, went into receivership because of problems with its parent company’s pension fund,’ said the spokesman.
This prevented the contractor carrying out the building works itself. Concerns have been raised about whether the heating and ventilation system at the schools was working properly. Education did not answer.
