Gallienne has had enough

During his five years at the helm, the charismatic Gallienne (pictured) has turned Rangers from a bottom-placed team into a top-four outfit.

But after the first game of the new Sure Senior County League season on Saturday, which saw Rangers lose 4-2 at home to North, he handed in his resignation.

He denied that the result had had anything to do with his decision. ‘I haven’t got the enthusiasm any more,’ he said.

‘Before I go too far into the season and waste the players’ and my time, it’s best to give someone else a go. I spent Saturday afternoon not wanting to be there.

‘It was nothing to do with the result. I should have stepped down at the end of last season.’
