FRIENDS and family yesterday celebrated the life of accident victim Ben Davies. More than 100 people gathered at St Martin’s Church, many wearing brightly-coloured clothing as requested by the family.
The service paid tribute to the 25-year-old who died in a motorbike crash on 8 August. Four friends carried Mr Davies into the church in an eco-friendly coffin decorated with sunflowers.
His mother, Carol Healy, joked that her son was never on time – even for his own funeral. ‘He was always late. He was late today, I noticed.
‘He was late when he was born. He was always late for school, late to get his homework in. He was always late for college, leaving in a frenzied rush.’

Mrs Healy thanked all those who had contacted her and left messages since her son’s death. ‘We have been overwhelmed by the support in the last few weeks. The roadside has been inundated with flowers. It has been such a comfort knowing he was loved and liked so much.’
*If you would like to take part in the fun-raising ride in Ben Davies’ name, which, for road-safety reasons, is open only to motorcyclists, please download and print the form, left.
*Donations can be made direct to HSBC Bank, PO Box 31, St Peter Port, GY1 3AT, sort code 40-22-25, account number 03883698.
