Rangers win inaugural tournament
Saturday 6th September 2008, 9:29AM BST.
NRG RANGERS have won the first single-sex slow-pitch tournament to be held in Guernsey. The recent competition on the Beau Sejour diamonds was an experimental event following the cancellation of the annual Men’s Fast-pitch Open.
Teams from slow-pitch division one and division two combined for the day along with a guest entry from fast-pitch side Titans led by Gary Machon.
‘The whole tournament proved to be a resounding success,’ said the Guernsey Softball Association’s Matt Marquis.
Teams played each other in a round-robin format.
In the final, it was Titans who started off the brighter team, clocking up an early lead. Rangers struggled to keep up with them.
