ST MARTIN’S must expect tougher tests than this in the months to come.
Two goals within the opening 13 minutes killed off the game as a contest virtually before it had even begun against a Jersey Wanderers side whose average age was 19 and who included four junior players in their ranks.
Saints, to be fair, were missing several first-teamers themselves. New signing Ryan Tippett was a frustrated spectator having torn a hamstring on Thursday, an injury that might rule him out for more than a month.
Chris Chamberlain was another on the sidelines, as was Liam Roffey, and how Colin Fallaize would like to have been able to call into action Etienne Ogier, another in attendance. The former Guernsey defender, however, was on the final weekend of a two-week holiday from his London home.
But the Saints coach was impressed by how the XI he put his faith in did their job on the day.
