Trott-tussle letter spells out frustration

0564352.jpgMORE details have emerged about Chief Minister Lyndon Trott’s clash with Deputy Barry Brehaut in a corridor of Frossard House.

The Guernsey Press has obtained a copy of a letter sent by Deputy Brehaut (pictured) to code of conduct panel chairman, Chris Day, and then by email to other deputies in an attempt to clear up what really happened.

Deputy Brehaut appears to be frustrated that the incident, in which Deputy Trott threatened and verbally abused him, is being portrayed in some circles as ‘half a dozen of one, half a dozen of another’.

He confirmed he sent the email at the end of July but would not say any more.

When is Lyndon Trott going to make a public apology for abusing his position of power in this manner?

No matter how ‘human’ one believes his actions were, it is quite clear that his behaviour has been reprehensible.

This should not be forgotten, nor his past failures as T&R minister (recent revelations about the state of the accounts, the obfuscation of budgets, the rail roading of zero ten, the shameful release of misleading statistics the day before the election, the funding of vanity projects over necessities….).

A chief minister with no public mandate, who barely scraped in at election, who has openly admitted that he has to use ‘force of personality’ as opposed to political discussion, and who has proven himself as a liability in volatile situations should be publically apologising, if not resigning, and telling the public exactly what he is going to do about his shabby reputation.

Faith in our politicians needs restoring, and it should not be the ‘backbenchers’ that lead the way (unless of course they get to vote in the PC and CM positions more frequently).

It is clear somone has leaked this document. Perhaps Chris Day should be finding out who leaked the information, and its probable breach of the Code of Practice.

We might even see the Editor and Nick Mann hauled off to the nether region of Castle Cornet!!!!!
