LE MURIER has enjoyed its first school trip. Pupils set sail on the J. R. Tolkien for two-and-a-half hours yesterday morning.

The 45 children were all excited about their voyage on the tall ship. ‘I’ve been really looking forward to it,’ said Heather Brown, 12.  ‘The boat’s really big.’

Callum Burnet, 12, was glad he wasn’t seasick. ‘The ship looks good,’ he said.  ‘I thought it would be smaller, though.’

Teacher Kevin Childs said the children had been looking forward to their first day out.

The J. R. Tolkien’s visit to the island is being sponsored by the Long Port Group.
