Mooney ideal man for the role
Wednesday 10th September 2008, 2:30PM BST.
THE Guernsey Football Association finally have their man. For more than a year the position of development officer has been vacant since Chris Pringle stepped down in July 2007.
But after extensive advertising and interviewing a number of candidates, the GFA have announced that Paul Mooney (pictured), who is a qualified coach educator, will take up the post on 29 September.
‘When I visited Guernsey in the past in my capacity as a coach educator for the FA, I was impressed by the enthusiasm and abilities of both players and coaches,’ he said.
‘I am both grateful and excited to be given the opportunity to input into the development of the “beautiful” game on such a football crazy island. I look forward to meeting all those involved and working together to make the sport accessible and fun for all.’
Mooney brings a wealth of coaching experience from a number of FAs and also as a coach for Manchester United Soccer Schools and Development Centre Coach for Portsmouth.
