BUSINESSES representing all sectors of the economy are being asked to help the Scrutiny Committee with its public review on vandalism.

A letter has been sent to members of the Chamber of Commerce in an attempt to gain a wide range of feedback about how the problem blights their company.

Members of the public will be asked for their views shortly.  Scrutiny chairman Deputy Barry Brehaut said that criminal damage was the most frequently reported crime in the Bailiwick and one that had a strong impact on the quality of life enjoyed by the community.

‘For the purpose of the review, the committee has adopted a working definition of vandalism as being where a person intentionally or recklessly destroys or causes damage to another person’s property. It includes arson, graffiti and damage to vehicles and houses and affects private households, commercial premises and public land and property.’
