0636371.jpgGUERNSEY’S new hockey development officer has hit the ground running.

Monday marked Ben Allberry’s (pictured) first official day in the role and he spent the afternoon coaching at La Mare de Carteret School.

The 25-year-old from Havant has also already turned out for the island’s first team, of which he is the player-coach as well, in their two matches against Brighton at the end of last month.

And Saturday marks his debut in men’s division one. He is delighted to be in the island.

‘The club, the facilities and the amount of kids coming through – it’s absolutely brilliant,’ he said.

‘I love the set-up here with the club right next to the pitch. I’m looking forward to my first game on Saturday.’
