Celebration of birth ends with dad in prison

Saturday 13th September 2008, 9:28AM BST.

A NEW father will miss a large part of the first year of his daughter’s life after being jailed for assaulting a police officer when he was out wetting the baby’s head.

Samuel Bishop was sentenced to eight months’ youth detention for the offence and received two months to run concurrently on further charges of disorderly behaviour and resisting police.

His father, Christopher, who behaved in a disorderly manner and obstructed police during the same incident, was sentenced to 120 hours’ community service.

Both pleaded guilty to all the charges when they appeared in the Magistrate’s Court.
