GUERNSEY’S law firms are better placed to face the credit crunch than their Jersey counterparts, according to a definitive legal publication.

This year’s Legal 500 states that because Guernsey’s financial product mix is not so heavily biased towards funds as the sister island’s, so the law firms are not so vulnerable to the global economic downturn.

‘Privately, lawyers talk of cautious realism, although instructions are holding up well as we go to press,’ it says.

Fourteen Guernsey law firms have featured in this year’s Legal 500.

Ozannes, Carey Olsen, Collas Day, Babbe, Ogier, Bedell Cristin, Mourant du Feu & Jeune, AO Hall, Atkinson Ferbrache Richardson, Ashton Barnes Tee, SG Law, Randell & Loveridge, Wedlake Bell and Albany Chambers all received praise in the Bible of the legal profession.
