HOME-GROWN musical talent made all the difference at Saturday’s Last Night of the Proms celebrations in Town. The Albert Pier was the scene of the island’s contribution to one of the biggest musical parties in the world.
The Guernsey Symphonic Winds and the Guernsey Youth Theatre singers added a fresh edge to the event.
‘Using home-grown performers was brilliant because it encouraged people to get there early,’ said CMA Events’ Natalie Davidson, who also played with the Guernsey Symphonic Winds.
‘When people are turning up at 5.30pm just to make sure they get a seat, you know that the event’s a success. The Last Night of the Proms has become a permanent fixture on the Guernsey calendar that people look forward to all year.
‘Many of them were saying that this year’s was the best ever.’
