Falla’s second coming at the heart of island sport
Wednesday 17th September 2008, 2:29PM BST.
REFRESHED and batteries fully charged, Stuart Falla MBE (pictured) has returned to the helm of the Guernsey Sports Commission, claiming the job is nowhere near complete.
‘I think the commission is very healthy but there is no thought that the job has been done,’ he said this week. ‘We have got to the starting line, but there is still a whole lot of work to do.’
His spell in politics well and truly behind him, it is clear the spearhead of the 2003 Island Games project has lost none of his passion for sport.
And with the commission celebrating its fifth birthday this month, he seems eager to get stuck into the range of projects lying before them.
Born at the back of the Island Games in 2003, he has no doubts that the organisation which replaced the outdated and lightweight Sports Council has established real credibility and pushed sport forward.
