Allen and Veron score hat-tricks in Rangers riot

Rangers 10, Sporting Academics 2
ROSS ALLEN (pictured) hit his third straight hat-trick as Rangers rampaged their way to the Collins Cup final in an extraordinary semi-final in the St Andrew’s sunshine.
And the entertainment extended to beyond referee Colin Gontier’s final whistle when the visitors’ talented midfielder Ben Gallichan took off his boots and threw them into the adjacent field. When asked what he did that for, he replied he did not need them as he would not been playing again.
It was one weird afternoon, not least that Rangers hit double figures and still did not score the goal of the game.
That belonged to the visitors’ silver-haired Phil Helleur who volleyed an exocet high into the net from 35 yards and from the left touchline.
But the Accies simply could not handle Rangers’ electric front trio, who between them hit nine.
