SOME of the island’s top players might appear conducive to playing for Guernsey United, but the feelings of warmth do not stretch to the committee rooms. Indeed, mention of the names of some of Guernsey United’s founder members are sending some apoplectic.

Despite the GFA’s request to member clubs not to comment on the issue, one senior club official agreed to give the full wrath of his own personal feelings as long as he remained anonymous.

His main gripe is with the people behind the club and the fact that no sooner had they left the GFA board they were setting up the new team which is seeking affiliation with the GFA and aims to play on the UK league pyramid next season.

‘I’m disappointed in a group of people who threatened to go in the first place, then, when they got their own way, went anyway,’ said the official.

‘I’m also disappointed that a group of people, who said they had football at heart, are prepared to let clubs develop players and then they’ll try and cherry pick. I feel let down by these people.’

So with the scorn that Rob Batiste gave the social leagues for being selfish etc, Well who’s got football at heart now, who’s being selfish and single minded. Who will really end up looking like Mickey Mouse……

This is just another reason while the committee who put together the 5 year plan where unfit to make such a fundamental decision. And of course money was never the issue!!
