WORK on the first phase of redeveloping housing at the Bouet could begin by the end of next year. Six vergees (2.4 acres) of States-owned land bounded by the Grand Bouet, Place Cerise and Ivy Castle Lane will be transferred to the Guernsey Housing Association at the end of this year.

A draft development brief, to which responses are invited, has just been published. GHA chief executive Steve Williams said this was just the start of the process.

‘We’ll be taking on board the comments made as part of the process and adding some of our own as well,’ he said.

The GHA hoped to be in a position to submit a formal planning application by Christmas, but it was not expecting to be given permission before April or May at the earliest.
