A TEAM of 35 from Sure hopes to make a splash at the weekend’s Swimarathon.  Now in its 32nd year, the event is expected to attract thousands of islanders to the pool at Beau Sejour.

It has raised more than £1m. for local charities. Sure’s Phil Wenman said that his team was ready for the challenge.

‘We are still collecting our sponsorship and have raised quite a bit so far,’ he said. ‘I have been involved with the Sure teams for a few years now and it’s always a good laugh, so I was keen to swim again this year.

‘I would advise everyone to sign up and have a go,’ he said.

The Swimarathon, which is sponsored by Sure, starts on Friday and finishes at 6pm on Sunday. There are 80 lanes still available and organisers are calling on more teams to enter.
