Promise shown in home defeat

THEY need to find a clinical touch in front of goal, but Martyn de Garis’ island under-21s have plenty of promise about them.
Two second half goals gave the visiting Royal Naval Air Command the spoils last night at Blanche Pierre Lane. However, the result was not a disaster for the Guernsey coach.
‘There’s the good basis of a team there,’ said de Garis (pictured), who had also been impressed with the friendly victory over Bels on Monday. ‘We created enough, we just did not have the quality in the final third. I think we just needed a bit of luck.’
In a match which involved the use of rolling subs, after the opening half-an-hour or so, the numerous changes did affect the rhythm of the home side.
