FORMER captain Ian Hardman held off the strong challenge of three Royal Guernsey members to win the La Grande Mare Seniors’ Open.
He shot 32 Stableford points to win by one from Dave Marshall, Colin Watson and Tony Skipton. Having posted just 13 on the front nine, Hardman got his game together on the inward half, scoring 19 with a particularly strong finish over the closing four holes.
Marshall and Watson had the consolation of landing age-group prizes. Marshall being the best of the 65-69 years category, Watson the 55-59 one.
Sandy Duncanson’s commitment has paid off in winning the President’s Putter competition at La Grande Mare.
Having been recently relocated to Alderney to continue his job as a bank manager, he made sufficient trips back to Guernsey to compete and managed to reach the final in which he overcame Rob Cornelius.
