0649245.jpgTHE Royal Ballet School has been looking for local pupils. Kathryn Wade (pictured), principal of the school’s outreach programme, was in the island at the weekend running the rule over some of Guernsey’s best talent.

In total there were 79 local dancers from four different dance schools aged between seven and 17 trying to catch her eye.

‘It would be lovely to discover someone in Guernsey. Part of our remit with the Royal Ballet School outreach programme is to hold auditions looking for talent.

‘What we have been trying to do is to take the school out of Covent Garden across the country to show to people that we are approachable and to ask them to audition.’

But as well as possibly auditioning for the school itself in future, Ms Wade hoped that the youngsters would be encouraged by the expert coaching and training to apply for places at one of its seven centres in the UK that hold classes every Saturday.
