JONATHAN TROTT gave the KGV crowd a glimpse on Saturday of just why he has been involved in the England one-day squad in recent times.

The Warwickshire all-rounder is known as an aggressive batsman and he carried his bat for an unbeaten 75 to steer his side to an eight-wicket victory over Nottinghamshire in the Lord’s Taverners Twenty20 Challenge and earn the man-of-the-match award.

His 66-ball innings was an impressive display of timing as he struck eight fours and two sixes, the second of which landed on the groundsmen’s hut roof and brought the scores level as Warwickshire chased Notts’ 150.

Captain Ant Botha was to hit the winning boundary with four balls to spare after the teams had sportingly agreed to continue through the rain.
