GUERNSEY’S women’s team have nothing to fear in their debut season in Division Two South-West.

Pat Ogier’s side made a dream start with a crushing 94-56 away win over UWIC Archers, a university side from Cardiff, and although they lost 24 hours later against Birmingham Bears, it was another encouraging performance against the likely title favourites.

Ogier returned a happy man. ‘All in all it was a very successful weekend. The girls raised their game to a new level and although playing double headers is tough, we can have no complaints with the results.

‘Even after defeat we were very positive and have lots of things to work on to ensure we are closer to the Bears the next time we play them.’

Star player and captain Kerr also liked what she had seen from the team.
