Chinese visit brings hope of captive

A delegation from a Shanghai insurance company has been visiting Guernsey.
SENIOR management from a major Chinese insurer have visited Guernsey to strengthen links with the island.
The team from Beijing-headquartered Sunshine Insurance Group, one of seven such firms in the country, were here to assess the viability of establishing a captive.
The delegation included chairman Weigong Zhang, as well as Ralph Snedden, the non-executive director of the firm’s London-based broker, Newman Martin & Buchan.
The Chinese visitors met representatives of the Guernsey Financial Services Commission, GuernseyFinance and independent captive manager Alternative Risk Management.
‘The whole delegation found visiting Guernsey and meeting managers, regulators and the promotional agency to be extremely beneficial and informative,’ said Mr Snedden.
