ZEBRAS edged out Panthers by just two goals as the Condor Super League got off to a thrilling start at Beau Sejour.

With an unchanged side from last season, Zebras arguably had the advantage over opponents who were having to cope with the loss of Amy Wright, Elaine Donaldson and Kristina Le Page.

However, Panthers have been boosted by the addition of talented junior Chantal Marson and Kate Dewsnap, an ex-island player who has just returned to Guernsey after more than a decade away.

Adetermined Zebras team were not to be denied an opening victory and they finally sealed it 26-24.

Next on court, Thundercats did brilliantly to overcome the loss of several players to defeat Sharks 34-18.
