DETERMINED depositors have set up an action group to fight for money they had put in Landsbanki Guernsey. A forum set up on moneysupermmarket.com was used as a central meeting point for customers of the crisis-hit bank who were all feeling the same level of despair and frustration.
Depositors vented their anger at the lack of information from the administrator and the States and called for customers to stick together. Several had suggested the idea of an action group, but it was UK-based Matthew Barton who made it official.
He posted a letter on the forum which he intended to send to the GFSC and the Association of Guernsey Banks. Mr Barton signed the letter ‘The Landsbanki Guernsey Depositors’ Action Group’ but asked for support from fellow customers before sending it.
That support was forthcoming as savers rallied round to give their backing. In his letter, Mr Barton said it was not acceptable for Guernsey’s authorities to write off the situation as an Icelandic problem.
Another member, Daniel Herzberg, 39, has set up a website for customers to sign up to and find out the latest news about the campaign. He and his wife had their life savings with Landsbanki Guernsey and said that depositors felt a common bond.

I too have my lifesavings at Landsbanki gg. Have they gone into a black hole. I doubt it. 30p per pound is not good enough. That is thievery.
