Starz shot down in thriller

AN OVERTIME thriller has got the Women’s Basketball League off to a dramatic start.

It was Jenny Rees who converted the vital final points of the game as Louvre Group edged out Shootin’ Starz 36-34.

Both teams were fielding a new line-up and that made for a scrappy affair, with the experienced Rees, one of her side’s newcomers, the outstanding player as she scored 18 and had a hand in everything good from Louvre Group.

Shootin’ Starz battled hard and fought their way back into it to lead heading into the last minute, but their opponents managed to find the basket one more time to take the game into the extra period.

Again it remained close, but it was Louvre who nicked the win thanks to MVP Rees.
