SLACK tackling cost St Jacques dearly against United Banks on Sunday at the KGV as they lost their second JRA League match in a row.
The Jersey team, who are expected to be near the top come the end of the season, scored all their points in the first half as they took advantage of the home side’s defensive frailties.
St Jacques got their act together for the second half, but it was not enough. ‘First half we didn’t wake up until it was too late,’ said St Jacques coach Chris Griffiths.
‘We played well in the second half but it was too little, too late. The performance was good but some areas, like the tackling, need working on.’
The Blacks also lost their first game in the 2008-09 league against Beeches. ‘It’s been disappointing,’ said Griffiths about their campaign.
