Ferbrache’s twaite shad earns three prizes

JUNIOR angler Jay Ferbrache won three prizes in the September Fish of the Month competition.
His 1-9-5 shore-caught twaite shad scored 95.51% and gave him the Shakespeare Monthly Angling Award for the top overall fish, the J. Meerveld and Sons Tankard for the best shore-caught fish and the Aval du Creux Hotel junior prize.
As no boat-caught entries were received, the Fletcher’s Freesias Tankard was not won. Andre Larsson won the Richard Keen Tankard for visitors, his 13-13-0 boat-caught bull huss being worth 84.67%.
The two runner-up prizes of Bucktrout’s Bass beers went to Simon Mauger’s 3-4-0 shore-caught red mullet, 82.53% and Andy Le Lerre’s 10-14-14 shore-caught bull huss, 78.77%.
The Tackle Direct spot prize went to junior angler Ross Ferbrache whose 5-5-0 ballan wrasse had been worth 61.23%.
The three unsuccessful entries, all shore-caught fish were: Martin Torode, 12-6-5 bass, 67.38%; Paul McLaren, 10-9-3 bass, 57.48%; Sam Teed (junior), 1-2-0 garfish, 41.20%.
Steven Torode has entered a shore-caught bass in the October competition.
