ALICE LOVERIDGE is one win away against an old foe from a place in the quarter-finals of the girls’ singles in Pune.

The Guernsey star had a comfortable victory over Malawi opponent Christy Mwenebunga yesterday and will now be focusing her attention on her opponent in the last 16, Karina Le Fevre of England.

The pair know each other well and Loveridge admitted she was nervous at the prospect of playing Le Fevre for a place in the last eight and an almost certain clash with the number one seed, India’s Neha Aggarwal.

‘I play her all the time. She’s quite a rival. It’s about 50-50,’ when asked what her track record was against the English player, who is a year older than the Sarnian 14-year-old.

Loveridge won their most recent meeting at the Six Nations tournament 3-0, but Le Fevre triumphed at the previous clash at the Liverpool Grand Prix.
