Visitors provide tough tests
Friday 17th October 2008, 2:29PM BST.
NUMBERS might be down for the weekend’s 2008 Guernsey Netball Open at Beau Sejour, but a cracking tournament is still expected.
‘For different reasons we’ve got only six teams [coming over] and we had 14 teams at the beginning of March. But we’ll still have a very good time,’ said organiser Gill Queripel.
‘There will still be some netball and it’s great for the girls to come up against something different.’
The visiting teams for the biennial open are Egham and Tringham of Surrey, Loughborough’s Allsorts Netball Club, SAS, Mixtures and Jersey outfit St Clement’s.
Egham, Allsorts and Tringham are involved in this evening’s ‘Friday Tournament’ with a selection of local Super League teams including Vets, Roos and Thundercats ahead of tomorrow and Sunday’s main event.
A number of other visiting players are also involved, including Hannah Scoones.
