Charity on the hunt for island causes in need
Saturday 18th October 2008, 9:29AM BST.
GUERNSEY charities could benefit from BBC Children in Need funds. A team from the charity will be in the island next month on a fact-finding mission – and to encourage local charities to apply for money.
Emma Beeston, Katie Green and Clare Cannock, who work for its south-west region, are keen to discover more about Guernsey and will visit from 19-21 November.
Children in Need has donated money to island charities before but currently is not funding any.
‘Guernsey does fantastic fund-raising for us and there does seem to be this idea that groups here can’t apply,’ said regional manager Ms Beeston. She said there might be groups in the island they could help. If a charity helps disadvantaged children and young people aged 18 or under it might be eligible.
‘All funding goes to making a positive difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people and I’m sure there will be some great groups that we can help,’ she said.
