LES BEAUCAMPS pupils have welcomed the redevelopment of the school.
Planning permission has been submitted to the Environment Department and, if approved, building could begin in 2010.
Several members of the school council had a say on its design, which features grass roofing, a swimming pool and a look sympathetic with its rural surroundings.
‘We had our input on a large outside space in the middle,’ said Demi Le Cras, 15. ‘We told the architects how we wanted it to feel. We put forward decking areas and steps in the middle which are big enough to sit on in the summer.
‘It needed to be environmentally friendly so we suggested solar panels and a supply of water will run down the hill and flow into a pond at the bottom.’
Council member Beth Gabriel said she was pleased with the design.
‘I think they are really artistic, really creative and environmentally friendly,’ said the 13-year-old.
