TWO men high on drugs used a disc cutter to break into shipping containers in the early hours of the morning and then crashed their getaway car.

The cutter was just one of a number of tools and other items Ross McMillan, 20, and Alan Baker, 22, took from Access Scaffolding’s yard at Petites Capelles on 7 June before they crashed the car, taken without consent from McMillan’s girlfriend, in Route des Coutanchez.

McMillan was jailed for 21 months and Baker for 18. The Royal Court heard that the pair had been at a gathering at Baker’s flat when at 2am they left to get a takeaway.

In doing so, McMillan, who was disqualified from driving, took the keys for his girlfriend’s car from a surface in the kitchen.
The two men ended up at the Access Scaffolding yard, where shipping containers are used for storage by the company and other businesses.

They stole items from a lorry after smashing a window with a stone and in another, unlocked, lorry they discovered the cutting tool.

That was used to cut through padlocks and chains on an Advanced Property Maintenance container and one used by Access Scaffolding, from which items including a drill were taken.
