EX-SERVICE CHIRPERS have drawn first blood in the first of four heavyweight clashes with Gremlin Galacticos by overturning a three-frame deficit to win 7-5 in the Image Group Premier Division.
That included winning six of the last seven frames, five against Glenn Le Prevost and Adrian Lihou who had previously lost just one between them.
It looked to be a typical Galacticos steamroller performance as they racked up a 4-1 lead, three coming from Adam Shorto who knocked in a 64 clearance and a break of 49 in amassing 284 points against Graham Peel.
Martyn Desperques crucially won the sixth frame to beat Paul Le Sauvage as the Chirpers’ recovery gathered momentum.
Three frames for Ian Platt against the previously unbeaten Le Prevost took the match to 6-5, when Adrian Holley profited from a fortuitous brown to clear up against Lihou in the final frame.
