Nightmare start leaves Kerr bewildered

‘RUBBISH’ was skipper Liz Kerr’s reaction to Guernsey’s 18-point defeat by Bristol Storm.
A disastrous start to Guernsey’s third National League game saw them 17-1 down after only five minutes. They recovered well but left themselves too much to do.
‘For whatever reason, we just weren’t ready at the start of the game,’ said a disappointed Kerr, who top scored with 16 points. ‘I’m not sure if we thought they would be worse than they were, or people were sick and distracted. It is a shame because some games are lost because the opposition are better than you and some games you lose because you play badly, which was the case [this time].
‘Taking out that first five minutes, there was only a two-point differential which shows that we need to play hard for the full 40 minutes, but also that we are of a similar standard if we play well.’
Coach Pat Ogier (pictured) could not put his finger on his side’s bad start. ‘If I’m honest, we didn’t turn up for the first quarter.
‘We just seemed very flat with no sign of the aggressive and upbeat tempo we usually play with.’
