Sea Ventures’ local manager Jon Le Conte at the opening of the Guernsey Marine Traders boat show in April this year.
THE credit crunch has forced a marine sales company with a Guernsey office out of business.
Sea Ventures Ltd, a boat broker which also has offices in the UK, went into administration on 8 October, leaving local manager Jon Le Conte without a job.
‘I am unemployed after doing the same job, off and on, for more than a decade,’ he said.
‘It’s sad, but it’s a reflection of the current economic climate – it is a result of the credit crunch, without doubt,’ he said.
Mr Le Conte said the company was not the only such firm in trouble. ‘There are numerous marine businesses going bust at the moment in the UK.’
It was the company’s link with the UK that was ultimately its downfall, he said.
