0657361.jpgDAVE LOWE has finished third in the 2008 Classic FF 1,600 Championship.

The 69-year-old Sarnian, who is regarded as the Michael Schumacher of the Classic Formula Ford world with a staggering 12 championships under his belt since 1993, picked up a victory at Silverstone recently in the last meeting of the series.

However, it was not enough to see him lift this year’s crown, as he finished third in class on 62 points and behind champion Jon Davies with 100 and second-placed Andrew Smith with 76.

‘It’s an age thing – these nippers are 24, 28, and I missed four meetings,’ said Lowe. His Silverstone victory came in the first round of the meeting.

However, it was not such a joyous affair for the Guernseyman in the second race.
