False rape claim earns three months in prison

Friday 24th October 2008, 2:29PM BST.

THE 23-YEAR-OLD daughter of murder victim Lizzie Roussel has been jailed for three months for making a false allegation of rape.

Emma Roussel did so to get back at her then boyfriend, who had dumped her for another woman.

In the Royal Court, Roussel, of 42, Old Mill Estate, St Martin’s, admitted perverting the course of justice, criminal damage and failing to comply with bail conditions.

‘I just wanted him to be hurt because of what he’d done. He’d broken my heart,’ she told police.

Her advocate, Andrew Ayres, said that as well as being affected her mother’s violent death, she had been sexually abused at the age of five or six and again at 12.

The rape claim was made after the man ended their relationship of more than a year on 24 April.

    3 months, how pathetic.

3 years should be more like it. To many females make allegations in order to achieve their own cheap and tacky goals. This tends to happen at the end of a relationship when a couple is in a dispute over children or propety.

A more balanced view towards the male, or father needs to be taken. It never is the women always have it all and them some.

I am not saying all females are liars but those that are do so in order to obtain sympathy and end up with a better settlement. Some are just plain bitter and are content on causing the ex as much collateral damage as possible.

Hats off to our local police force for bringing the offence to court, shame the court could not send out a stronger message to dissuade other like minded women from following in the same footsteps.

Once upon a time it would be a case of when the female drops the allegation that would be that but the male in question would still be frowned upon by friends and family of the alleging other.

This is refreshing but it is a shame the courts couln not have done more. She will only serve 2 months.

I have noted that her life and circumstances haven’t been the best but this gives her no right to ruin somene elses.

Get your head down Emma Rousel and do your bird. Hopefully this will be enough to make you think twice in future.

Wow, three months – compared to … how long would the man have endured had he been found guilty?

    Exactly.

So much for the feminist claims of ‘equality’.

Falling on alleged (and we certainly don’t know how true this claim is, do we?) child abuse issues should not justify a lenient sentence for breaking the law and potentially ruining an *innocent* man’s life.

Agree with the above comments – 3 years would be hugely lenient in most false rape cases.

A malicious false rape accusation such as the aboce is just as serious as an offence as an actual rape. As with rape – false allegations can have devastating consequences and completely ruin someone’s life.

Women such as these need to be placed on the sex offenders register – it is a obvious sex offence and such people should never be allowed to work with children or vulnerable groups. Additionally if they were on such a register then future victims would have more chance of finding out just how dangerous their partner is.

I agree with most of what you have written. However, with regard to the bit about the sex offenders register you are copletely way off the mark. No sexual offence has been comitted. Just a false allegation of one. This is alarming for anybody to have to deal with. I feel sorry for the man in question. I hope he is happy with his new partner. It is not too difficult to see why he ended the relationship. The media coverage that Lizzie Rousel has attracted will be enoughto put all sane men from going with 100 yards of the woman. As for working with children, vulnerable people, this will not be possible due to the fact that she has now got a police record and would not pass security checks.

Like minded women, I now a few, take heed of the above media. Hopefully the next one will receive a lot longer for their lies. Women wanting equal rights, how pathetic. It is my opinion that men are going to have to fight for equal rights due to the fact that most women know that all they have to do is turn on the crocodile tears and the whole world soft soaps them and delivers exactly what they are after into their scanty laps.

Good God I agree only 3 months, and will then again only serve 2..it is women like this who give the rest of us ladies a bad name..
Perhaps a visit to a shrink would be ideal Lizzie, you might then think twice.

    Paul,

In this particular case the person has some notoriety, so perhaps men will be warned off. But there are cases in the UK and other places of serial accusers, women who’ve accused upwards of 7 men or more of rape without any foundation. Those are obviously extreme cases, but the point is when people, men AND women, are heartbroken and distraught, they are capable of anything.

If the sex offender registry is good enough for people who pee in alleys, it’s good enough for false accusers. No one is saying label them as violent offenders, and the registries list the crime so there’s no reason they’d need to be lumped in with child rapists and the like. But given the serious consequences to a man of simply being accused, in cases where it can be proven beyond all reasonable doubt that a woman has fabricated a claim, it should be considered an option.

What utter rubish. What has peeing in an alley got to do with sex exactly? It is most definately not something that I or many people are into. A sex offenders register is just that. No offence has been committed just a groundless allegation of one. Do you sympathise with her because her heart was broken then? Moreover, just to give your statement some basis, if there was such a register locally it would be completely useless due to the fact that we have no freedom of information legislation. Everything is cloaked in secrecy by the data protection act!

As to some of the comments from men lumping all women together as liars who turn on the waterworks to manipulate men that is the same as generalising that all men are unwilling to support their children after divorce. The truth is that only a small minority of women cry rape and in cases where they do so frequently, as mentioned above, there is probably a history of mental illness. Equally, there are caring fathers who are unjustifiably kept from contact with their children by their exes, but there are also many who ditch all parental and financial responsibility for their children and leave the mother struggling to provide and care for them.

I agree with most of what you say. However with reguard to the bit about fathers and their children you are some way off the mark. It is becoming some what of a new trend where the mother uses the children as weapons due to the fact that once things have came to a head and the female in question realises she has taken all that she has been allowed the children are the last thing that she has at her disposal.

Women like this make me puke. I know so many of them. Us men have absolutely no automatic legal rights over our children. We are forced into court action which from the outset favours tthe mother. When the mother turns on the crocodile tears and plays for the sympathy vote the father doesn’t stand a chance. I feel that when childrens lives are on the line and two exes are in dispute a Newton Hearing sould commense and part of that process should include a lie detector test. Lots of women are players and a disgrace to the good ones. Men are left with expensive legal bills whilst the mothers generally receive legal aid.

You are right that the courts automatically assume that the mother is the best person to have care of the children. This is usually correct but there are some women who are not fit to raise children and I realise that it is very frustrating for fathers to come up against an inflexible system that can only follow the book.
I am not sure of your solution as a Newton Hearing doesn’t seem much different to the present system as the case would not be tried in front of a jury anyway. The father could present his own case but (sorry again a generalisation), women tend to have better verbal skills so it might not be to the advantage of the father.
Lie detector tests are notoriously incaccurate which is why they are not admissable in law.

I hope this lady receives psychological help in prison and comes to understand how damaging her past behaviour has been.

My sympathies are with the poor gentleman whose reputation has been damaged by the false claims.

This woman should serve the same sentence as the man would have served.

And to PRINT her “sob story” is ludicrous. What should have been printed was the agonizing process the VICTIM (the man) went through. His arrest and interogation, his name being published in the paper, his emotional toll he took etc.

And, yes, there should be a registry for false accusers. Look, it’s logical. Liars do not spring forth with this degree of manipulative skill without PRACTICE.

If there were a database of false accusers, then fewer false allegations would be made.

    It’s called a deterrent.

Shiela, the father’s issue is not remotely related to this… Kinda looks like you’re trying to redirect attention. Excusing women who falsely accuse innocent men with ‘mental illness’ is not good enough. We don’t excuse rapists, we don’t excuse murderers, we don’t excuse paedophiles and we don’t excuse anything much… BUT, you keep an eye on women who commit crimes, and you’ll note their sex frequently determines that they will be excused.
Feminism has created massive rifts between the sexes, and women are seen as incapable of wrong doing except under extreme circumstances. We often look for a man to blame, even for a woman’s direct choice.
I note how you refer to the point that only a “minority” of women falsely accuse (who suggested otherwise?) – yet refer to “many” dads who simply walk away. Sadly, you are misinforming. Research indicates that the vast majority of fathers not paying, are in that position by circumstance rather than choice – as you would have us believe. ALL women who falsely accuse – do so purely by choice, never circumstance.
