Five-star North jump to the top

Friday 24th October 2008, 2:29PM BST.

NORTH have gone top of the Sure Mobile U-21 Development League following their 5-1 demolition of Rangers at Northfield on Tuesday night.

‘We’re doing all right,’ said coach Ross Cameron. ‘It’s early days really but I’m pretty chuffed. We played a lot better [on Tuesday] as we didn’t play so well against Vale Rec – we got beat 1-0 – and I was disappointed with that.

‘This was a midweek game and they didn’t have any booze in them. We play a lot better under the lights.’

The chocolate-and-blues’ victory came courtesy of goals from tearaway striker Nigel Hutton with two, Shane O’Brien also with a pair and Lee Donaldson.

But the pick of the bunch belonged to Rangers’ Simon Le Pelley with a 35-yard screamer into the top of the net.

‘It was a belter of a goal,’ said Cameron. ‘The goal of the night.’
