GFA gets lift from bosses backing Vance

TONY VANCE’S appointment as island manager has found support at three of the current top four clubs.
While some might raise an eyebrow over Vance taking on the role due to his connections with Guernsey United, the men who run St Martin’s and Bels are relaxed about it.
Until this week it was expected Vance would be taking up a role with the new club that is aiming to play in the Kent Premier League from next season.
But he took everyone by surprise by applying for the post vacated by Steve Ogier. Now Vance (pictured) is back within the GFA, despite going on the record that he supports the Guernsey United project.
It could be argued that the association has made an astonishing U-turn in naming Vance as their man, but Henry Davey does not take that approach.
‘It isn’t, because to me Tony Vance was Steve Ogier’s man so it was Steve Ogier who appointed him and not the GFA, as far as I know,’ he said.
