THERE is a French feel about Guernsey squash these days.
It has been two months since Ben Rosec was appointed as the island’s new director and as soon as he opens his mouth, you know that the 27-year-old is from France, due to his strong Gallic tones.
But what you also realise is that the Brest native is an engaging and enthusiastic individual. He is certainly pleased to be in Guernsey.
‘When I came here for the interview, it was the first time I’d come here and I wondered why I’d never come before,’ he said.
‘I’ve enjoyed my first couple of months in the island. I’ve just met a lot of people through my job. I’m starting to have a good life here.’
Rosec said that before taking on the role he was aware of the island’s rich history in the sport with the likes of Lisa Opie, Martine Le Moignan and Jason Nicolle.
‘Before coming here for the interview, I had a little knowledge of Guernsey squash,’ he said.
