North 5, Bels 1

NORTH jumped to the top of Division One with a cracking victory over great rivals Bels on Saturday, but coach Mick Le Prevost believes they can still play better.

Defending champions Bels had looked the more assured outfit in the first half at Northfield despite going into half-time 2-1 down.

But the Le Prevost-coached side turned on the style in the second to win by four goals.

It was certainly a big improvement by North after their last run-out a couple of weeks ago, when they were crushed 5-0 by Jersey side St Paul’s in the Wheway Cup.

‘The boys were raring to go for this game and the best team won, to be fair,’ said Le Prevost.

‘They had a spell in the first half but once it was 2-1, the second half was all about us. Full credit to the boys – it was a good team effort.’
