DAN ARBLASTER has won a prestigious national cycling trophy named after one of the sport’s modern greats.
Arblaster, 17 (pictured), clinched the Chris Boardman Trophy with his runner-up performance at the national hill-climb championships in Matlock at the weekend.
Previous winners of this award have gone on to be offered a place at the British Cycling Academy for the 2012 Olympics training squad and the 2006 winner, Alex Dowsett, has represented Great Britain at under-23 level in last month’s world championships, while the 2007 winner, Andy Griffiths, is currently racing in Belgium.
This annual junior champion of champions award is based on performances in the four national time trial championships held throughout the calendar year – the 10-mile, 25-mile, British Cycling championships and the national hill climb.
