Guernsey aim to climb higher

Wednesday 29th October 2008, 2:29PM GMT.

SIMON SHARROTT has admitted it was ‘great to get a win on the road’ finally at the fourth time of asking.

Guernsey’s first away victory in London Three South-West this season – 20-5 at London Irish Amateur – has pushed them closer to the top of the table than the bottom for the first time in this campaign and the captain is determined to maintain the momentum.

‘This puts us in a good position for next weekend’s tough game against Tottonians, where we look to win once again to put us higher up the league table where we belong,’ Sharrott said.

The latest victory was not without its faults, though.

‘London Irish were a pretty average team and in the first half we made them look rather better than they were. It was the same old story – poor basic skills and a lot of penalties to boot.’

Guernsey had got off to a strong start and had deservedly taken an early lead in the sixth minute.
