CHIEF Minister Lyndon Trott yesterday signed seven agreements on exchange of tax information with the Nordic countries.

The move by the States was intended to demonstrate Guernsey’s transparency and robustness as an international financial centre.

The Tax Information Exchange Agreements were signed at a short ceremony in Helsinki with the governments of Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.

Deputy Trott said the importance of exchanging information has been increased by economic globalisation.

‘I am delighted that at its recent meeting the OECD recognised the significant progress we have made to achieve its rigorous standards. We now have nine agreements in place – a testament to our commitment to transparency,’ he said.

The signing took place during a Nordic Council session, the annual intergovernmental meeting of the seven countries.

    Deputy Trott
Maybe a statement on all your overspends would be welcomed. Good at trumping up what you are doing but even better at dodging accountability when things go wrong which we all know happens the moment you take an interest in whatever it is in question. How much has this man cost the taxpayer? I would love to know and a lot of other people should also be enquiring. When is he going to realise he is bringing this island to its knees and leave somebody with a grasp on reality to scrape up his mess.

You seem to have a lot of time on your hands as you tend to blast off on every subject going

Perhaps you can spare a minute or two to list the overspends you believe are the fault of Deputy Trott

The above 2 paragraphs are cut and paste!

Read the above words and pay attention to them, maybe even study them! You sound like you have no financial loss at stake here. Are you sitting pretty with nothing to lose? Please let me know cos any factual info is more than welcome. On one hand we wish to appear respected and strive for more suckers because ours are exhausted but on the other we dump on our electoriate for what exactly, wealth? Please anybody correct me?

I suppose there are a lot of Pauls in the Channel Islands but only one with the same grey gravatar which seems to appear on every subject matter.

If you can’t back up your constant rants about Chief Minister Trott’s sole responsibility for the Guernsey overspends I will understand

Before Deputy Trott managed to become our unelected Chief Minister he held responsibility for Treasury and Resources. The amount of overspends this department experienced whilst on his watch were massive. The fire main at St Samsons Marina. The marina project itself. Beau Sejour, Le Rondin School, the Airport Terminal as well as the many local businesses that suffered through UK contractors failing to meet their financial obligations. The tendering process for the hospital favouring a much higher quote for a minor technicality. This was helmed by Deputy Trott which disinchanted Deputy Falla to the point where he lost his heart for politics. I believe Deputy Falla would have been the most natural choice for the place which Deputy Trott finds him self in. Was this calculated I believe it was. This is a few off the top of my head. There are a lot more I’m sure but we tend to only hear about the positives because this states does not like negativity or to hold its hands up when things go wrong. They prefere to do and say nothing in public and shut out us isladers due to whatever it is not being in the publics interest.

Quite a list I agree but I’m not sure how Trott’s one vote in the States Assembly could have made much difference to these projects, several of which were pushed through by the now invisible Roger Berry at the former Board of Admin.
Just like liar Blair, Roger Berry seemed to know exactly when to retire before the sh hit the fan.
Trott just happened to be the one who had to sign the cheques for projects which began years ago as a result of decisions made by the whole of the States

Deputy Trott is the captain of this ship and endlessly keeps puting us on the rocks. Roger Berry can’t be held responsible for the way Trott goes about his duties or lack of them. He is a liability to the majority of things he oversees. He feels that he is superior to most when if fact he has little to be polittically proud of. I am waiting for the next blow to us taxpayers.
