MUSIC teacher Christine Anthony went to Buckingham Palace yesterday to receive her MBE.

She travelled with her husband, son and daughter after being named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for her work in developing the island’s music services.

‘It was just an amazing day,’ she said. ‘It was just lovely. The whole thing was so well done. I was totally overwhelmed by most of it. I just kept pinching myself, telling myself to take everything in. I managed to curtsy without breaking my legs.’

She had a conversation with Her Majesty who said that her sister was in Guernsey, but was corrected by Mrs Anthony who said that it was Jersey.

She met comedienne Victoria Wood, who was there to receive her CBE. Mrs Anthony said she was ‘all smiles’ and she invited her to sing in one of her choirs.
