HA Trophy success possible – Whalley

0419475.jpgGUERNSEY have the potential to pull off something special this season in the HA Trophy, according to their skipper.

Tomorrow the island side host UCL Academicals in the second round of the competition.  ‘When I look at the squad, it’s the strongest we’ve had for a few years,’ said captain Andy Whalley (pictured).

‘It’s not just a core of 11 or 12 players. It’s much more of a squad for this game. There are no weak links and we’ve got cover in every position.’

What has helped has been the influx of new players and people returning to the game to bolster an already impressive set of players.

New hockey development officer and Guernsey player-coach Ben Allberry has proved to a big hit since arriving on the island this season.  The former Havant national league player has a wicked drag flick on him which will certainly feature on Sunday.
