TONY SMITH’S Vale Rec side are gunning for a third straight title-chasers’ scalp at the Track tomorrow afternoon.
After beating North and St Martin’s in the space of 72 hours last week, Smith’s men take on leaders Bels in a match that could result in another change at the Division One summit.
Bels sit there only on goal difference and a slip-up could allow in either North or Saints, who meet at Northfield.
Smith had been around long enough to know Vale’s resurgence could end as quickly as it started, but the Corbet Field’s general manager is mightily encouraged by proceedings after a disastrous 2007-08 season.
‘There’s a buzz about the place. Everything is proving worthwhile at the moment,’ said Smith yesterday.
With his tongue in his cheek perhaps, Smith added: ‘It’s top-of-the-table boys we like. We are going into the game with confidence and we will give it a shot.’
