TOMMY SIMON is the inaugural Super Summer Singles Challenge winner after the longest final in local pool history.
The potential of having 29 frames in the showpiece occasion turned into a reality as Simon fought out an epic battle with James Kirk, which went down to a nail-biting decider.
The marathon began as it was to continue with Kirk edging the first session 6-4 before Simon staged a comeback to end the second with an 11-9 lead.
It was hardly a surprise, therefore, that four frames into the final session, the players were level at 12-12.
However, Kirk seemed to have swung the match in his favour by taking the next two to stand just one frame away from victory and the £700 first prize.
In the 27th, he broke off and having potted reds, chose yellow on a well-split table.
